Oh man, oh, man. Of course, I’m panicking!! It’s finally Week 1 of the One Room Challenge and I’m freaking out while Rory is as cool as a cucumber.
We have been waiting on the Fall One Room Challenge for months and are excited to be a part of this movement with other motivated “home transformers”.
ABOUT THE ONE ROOM CHALLENGE
In case you’re not familiar with the One Room Challenge, it is a 20-year old widely anticipated biannual event every spring and fall. Each round, twenty design influencers are selected to take the 8-week challenge, as Featured Designers, and transform a space. In addition to following along, everyone with a blog or Instagram account is welcome to join the fun as a Guest Participant to showcase their transformation each week during the event.
OUR KITCHEN RENOVATION STORY
We are on a mission to renovate our entire house, but for the next 8 weeks, we will commit to a kitchen transformation for the One Room Challenge. Before I get into all we want to do, let me bring you up to speed on our renovation.
When we bought the house this is what the kitchen looked like but we wanted open-concept, light and bright. So we removed the wall which separated the kitchen from the dining room and changed the layout completely. This was completed in time for us to move in December 2020.
THE LIGHT BRIGHT KITCHEN
Fast forward to today and the kitchen is still not done. We’ve done our best to make it usable however we need a complete kitchen and what better way to do than to challenge ourselves to complete it in just eight short weeks.

MOOD BOARD AND LIST OF PROJECTS
This is the mood board for our complete kitchen. We’re excited and can’t wait to complete this transformation.

Here’s a list of all the things we plan to complete in the next 8 weeks
- Complete the kitchen island
- Purchase and install built-in range hood
- Install shelves next to vent
- Install drop ceilings and recess lights
- Paint walls
- Install Window and Door trims
- Sprinkle some Razzle Dazzle
We are extremely excited and can’t wait to really get into this project and see the end results.
Wishing the best to everyone else on this journey.
Happy renovating!!!
